For Designers
The design team uses the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) to bring the publication of Catalyst from a compilation of text into a work of art. As a designer, your job is to create a professional yet eye-popping publication. In particular, the role of the designer includes:
- Creating graphics to accompany articles
- Organizing articles in a layout that makes the publication fit and flow
- Use fonts to your advantage to turn text into typography
This year at Catalyst, your co-directors of design, Vinita Israni (vmi1@rice.edu) and Olivia Derr (ogderr@rice.edu) are going to be leading design workshops to get all designers to a level of design proficiency that is necessary to work in Catalyst.
